Manifold Sensor Installation.... - 7.0 hrs

Today I installed the manifold pressure sensor. First I decided I was going to put it inside the firewall. This involved fabbing up a bracket and I riveted it to the angle along the top of the inside firewall. I don't think this is a part that should require serviceing but I can reach it from underneath the panel if needed. I installed the bulkhead fitting and a restrictor fitting on the #3 cylinder head. Each head has a plug in place for things like this and primers. My engine is fuel injected so primers are not needed.

After making up the bracket I primed it and installed the hose from the bulkhead to the #3 cylinder connection. Once the paint was dry I riveted it in place and mounted the MAP sensor. Ran a piece of hose from the sensor to the bulhead fitting on the inside firewall. Next I used the weatherpack connector on the 3 sensor wires. Turned on the panel and I get a a reading but not what I was expecting. I am getting 4.7 inches and with the engine not running I should be getting something close to 30 inches or local pressure. Need to check with AFS on Tuesday.

Next I powered up the panel to test the moving map software from AFS. They allow 5 hours free to test. The map screen looks great but I am not getting data from my GPS. Another configuration probem so I will check with FastStack on what I need to check. The map software is supposed to have more data points than even Garmin like grass fields and such.

Last I installed the starter wire and soldered on the terminals. Some of this stuff sure eats up time. Adle clamps and working in tight spaces is a pain in the butt.
